Coming in January 2025: NEW Public Domain titles
December 9, 2024
In January 2025, HathiTrust will once again celebrate Public Domain Day. This coming year, titles published in 1929 will enter the public domain in the United States, including more than 76,720 items in the HathiTrust collection. Some of these will also be viewable worldwide. Global readers will also gain public domain access to 60,380 titles. Some titles contributed might already be open thanks to HathiTrust’s Copyright Review Program, which identifies errors in copyright statuses to open new titles in the collection every day.
Here is a sneak peek of works that will be opening in January. (Some titles may not be immediately available for viewing due to time constraints on updating the collection.)
Worldwide Collection January 2025
The much-anticipated list includes A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway, Middletown: A Study in Contemporary American Culture by Robert S. Lynd and Helen Merrell Lynd, A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf, and Vidas cruzadas by Spanish playwright, Jacinto Benavente.
With thousands of books and other bound materials contributed by member libraries, HathiTrust is uniquely positioned to increase public access to these items and to preserve them for access long into the future.
If you see a gap in the collection that your library can fill with a digitized content deposit, please let us know! Contact HathiTrust at support@hathitrust.org.
